A 35-year-old man in Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, China, complained that his father, who had always been law-abiding, was inexplicably identified as a drug addict by the police 10 years ago. Since then, he has been required to file a record every year. His father lost his job and his temperament changed drastically. It was not until 2024 that the truth was revealed. It turned out that his uncle, who had been taking drugs for many years, pretended to be his father. For this reason, the whole family sued for 500,000 yuan, and the police also responded to this.

According to the “New Yellow River” report, the man’s father worked in an electronics factory in Guangzhou in his early years, with a monthly salary of more than 10,000 yuan, and his family life was okay, but in January 2015, he was suddenly asked by the police to file a record. After going to the police station to understand, the police claimed that they found him taking drugs. Despite repeated explanations, it was still ineffective. In this way, he became a drug addict and lost his job. He encountered obstacles everywhere in finding a job, so he had to return to his hometown to engage in breeding and occasionally do odd jobs.

Although the family went to the village committee and the police station many times to seek justice, they still did not get a reasonable answer for many years. Until March 2024, the man’s father was notified by the police to draw blood, “said to verify whether it was a mistake.” The results of the report came out in September, and it turned out that the drug user was the man’s uncle.

In response to this matter, the family complained everywhere. The police claimed that the wrong information had been corrected. Later, they also received an erroneous administrative penalty decision. However, the man was dissatisfied. His father’s criminal record was still visible and the matter was not completely resolved. He wanted to apply for a Guangdong public institution in March this year, but found that the system information recording his father had not been corrected, and the exam was ruined. Not only did his father have a criminal record for 10 years, but considering the inconvenience caused to the whole family by the negligence of the police, in addition to requesting the cancellation of the drug record, they also made a claim for 500,000 yuan. However, the police only responded that all the wrong information had been corrected, but the claim for 500,000 yuan was “without basis” and needed to continue communication.
