The case of a female dentist being beaten by gangsters is not simple. The chairman of Global Village and six others were transferred to the Northern District Prosecutors Office for further questioning.
A female dentist surnamed Shen at a dental clinic in Songshan District, Taipei City, was allegedly beaten by a burly man surnamed Zhou on the grounds that “teeth washing was too painful” on May 19 last month, and then fled. The scene was covered in blood. Afterwards, Zhou surrendered to the police, and Shen posted a message revealing that she was in trouble because of a debt dispute. The prosecutors and police continued to investigate and found that Shen was suspected of being beaten because Chen Zhongyi, the head of the “Global Village American Japanese Tutorial Class”, was suspected of instigating members of the Jing’an Association of the Bamboo Union, including Xia Weilong (nicknamed Xia An). Yesterday, Chen, Xia, and six other lawyers involved in the case, including Yan Daozhi, were arrested and brought to justice. This afternoon, they were sent to the Taipei Prosecutors Office for further questioning on charges of extortion, obstruction of freedom, and injury.
After the police arrested Chen Zhongyi and others yesterday and interrogated them, they were transferred to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office this afternoon. When Chen arrived at the Taipei District Prosecutors Office, he completely covered his neck with a coat and handbag to avoid being photographed by the media, so his face could not be seen. When the media asked, “Did you instigate gangsters to beat people?” He completely ignored it and was directly taken to the waiting room by the police from the prison lane. Xia Weilong and his younger brother were also taken to the Taipei District Prosecutors Office for re-interrogation before and after Chen.
This medical violence case occurred on the morning of May 19. A technician reconstructed the incident on the whistleblower community and said that he went to the clinic to clean the air conditioner that day and heard the patient asking about dental correction. He thought it was just a normal tooth cleaning chat, but Zhou suddenly yelled, “It hurts,” “You won’t be gentler!”, and then punched the female dentist in the face, leaving a bloody scene.
Zhou surrendered himself to the police, and the police immediately arrested him for crimes such as assault and the Medical Act. After questioning, the prosecutor determined that Zhou was suspected of committing rape and obstruction of medical treatment, assault and attempted serious assault under the Medical Act, and that he was suspected of serious crimes. There were also facts that he was suspected of fleeing, destroying evidence, colluding with witnesses, and accomplices, and repeatedly committing crimes. It was necessary to detain him, so he applied to the Taipei District Court for detention and no-contact.
The prosecutors and police believed that the blood-spattering case of the female dentist was not simple, so they set up a special task force to continue investigating. As expected, they found out that Shen was beaten and had been threatened many times before under the guise of seeing a doctor. It is reported that Shen had lent 15 million yuan to Chen Zhongyi, the head of the “Global Village American Japanese Tutoring School”. Although Chen took out the real estate title as a guarantee, he turned his face and denied it afterwards, so he asked the Jing’an Society and other gang members to intimidate Shen. It is suspected that the whole case is closely related to the debt dispute.
Ms. Shen later posted a post, saying that the other party repeatedly asked gangsters to mess with her. A friend came to ask if Global Village could help her for three months. It was outrageous that she was kind enough to help but wanted to cheat her. Global Village is so big, who knew that people could be so shameless? Moreover, the court ruled in my favor but still called the gangsters because they didn’t want to pay back the money. It was really unfair. “I was not the one who committed the crime. I was injured and couldn’t work to support my family. I actually regretted why I was soft-hearted and helped her at the time. As a result, I had to hide like a mouse and couldn’t apply for a protection order. I wanted to cry when I thought about it. Is this still Taiwan?”
Because the female dentist revealed that during the debt coordination period, someone mentioned that “Ms. Huang from Xu Shuhua’s office” participated in the negotiation, which caused politicians to be involved in the storm. DPP Taipei City Councilor Xu Shuhua also came out to clarify solemnly, emphasizing that she and her office staff had never been involved in the incident and had no dealings with the parties involved. She also stated that any false accusations would be reported to the police and sued in accordance with the law and would not be tolerated.
After more than a month of continuous investigation by the special task force of prosecutors and police, six people including Chen Zhongyi, head of the Global Village, Xia Weilong, the leader of the Jing’an Branch of the Bamboo Union, and his members, lawyer Yan Daozhi, were arrested yesterday. After interrogation, they were transferred to the police station for investigation this afternoon on charges of violating the Organized Crime Prevention Act, extortion, infringement of freedom and injury.
