Nanjing woman’s facial fat grafting failed, repair surgery nearly ruined her face “leaving a 6 cm scar”

Modern people love beauty, and some people will improve their appearance through plastic surgery. However, a 30-year-old woman in Nanjing, China, failed in facial fat filling, leaving sequelae such as “fatification”, so she underwent repair surgery, but unexpectedly fell from one “pit” to another deeper “pit”. She spent 20,000 yuan but the problem was not solved, but became more serious, reaching a state of almost disfigurement.
According to the Yangzi Evening News, Ms. Ding had a facial fat filling surgery in South Korea many years ago, but was left with facial swelling. She found a recommended clinic through platforms such as Douyin and Xiaohongshu, and went for a consultation in February this year. The doctor guaranteed that she could recover her original state. The cost of the surgery was 20,000 yuan, but a large area of blisters appeared on her chin 3 days after the surgery, which began to rupture and scab a few days later.
Ms. Ding followed the doctor’s instructions and cleaned the wound at home every day, but the wound did not improve. Instead, the area continued to expand, and there were signs of redness, swelling, and pus. During the period, the staff said that it was normal and insisted that the wound would recover if she followed the doctor’s instructions for care and nursing. However, after one month, her chin began to rot and decay, and a large pit appeared. Only then did she rush to the hospital for examination.
The doctor diagnosed that Ms. Ding’s wound had been seriously infected by bacteria, and the tissue was devoured by bacteria on a large area. The wound was full of rotten flesh, and it must be cleaned and disinfected immediately. She also told the clinic that the treatment method the doctor said was wrong and very dangerous, and it was very easy to cause bacterial infection.
After that, Ms. Ding went to the hospital for treatment every day. After one month, the wound finally improved, but it left a nearly 6-centimeter scar. “This incident was almost a devastating blow to my life.” She originally started a business and operated a company. Because of the disfigurement of her face, she could not work, resulting in the company’s inability to operate normally. At present, almost all employees have been laid off. Her boyfriend also quarreled with her and broke up because of the operation, causing her to dare not look in the mirror and wear a mask when going out.
In response, the medical beauty clinic said that the problems that Ms. Ding experienced after the operation were normal complications, which had been informed before the operation, and Ms. Ding had also signed a consent form. There were also customers who had similar conditions before, but they all recovered in the end. As for the postoperative related problems, whether they were caused by the operation itself, the patient’s postoperative care responsibilities, or the inherent medical risks of the operation, it remains to be evaluated by a third-party organization.
The medical beauty clinic was willing to take responsibility and proposed three solutions, but Ms. Ding could not accept any of them. She claimed that she had completely lost trust in the agency and claimed that the other party should compensate for various losses of 1 million yuan, but was rejected by the agency. It is still pending for the relevant units to conduct clarification and review, and at the same time, to do a good job of communication and coordination between the two parties.
