Yoon Seok-hyuk refused to cooperate with subpoenas several times, South Korean special prosecutors requested an arrest warrant

On the 24th, Yonhap News Agency quoted South Korean officials as reporting that the independent prosecutor who was investigating former President Yoon Seok-hyul’s brief implementation of the emergency martial law order in December last year had applied for an arrest warrant for Yoon Seok-hyul on the same day on suspicion of obstruction of public service and other crimes.
The special investigation team on Yoon Seok-hyul’s domestic turmoil case, led by independent prosecutor Cho Eun-suk, pointed out that Yoon Seok-hyul had repeatedly refused to accept the police’s summons on the martial law case, and the prosecution decided to apply for an arrest warrant to investigate the suspect.
South Korea’s JoongAng Ilbo reported that the investigation team said that after the independent investigation of the case was launched on the 18th, Yoon Seok-hye did not attend the summons on the 19th and also stated that she would not cooperate with other summonses, so she applied for an arrest warrant in order to continue the investigation. The application was submitted to the Seoul Central District Court on the evening of the 24th.
South Korea passed a bill earlier in June, requiring an independent investigation into Yoon Seok-hye’s domestic riot case. Before the case was transferred to the independent prosecutor, the South Korean police had summoned Yoon Seok-hye to be questioned on the 5th, 12th and 19th, but Yoon Seok-hye did not cooperate.
