At 18:00 yesterday (21st), a man surnamed You dug a small hole in a bag at the food court of Hanshin Arena Department Store in Kaohsiung, and pointed his mobile phone camera at a woman wearing a short skirt, suspected of secretly photographing her skirt. When the public found out that You was taking photos, they immediately called the police. The police arrived to question him, and You ran away. He was first knocked down by two young men, and then the police restrained him and arrested him alive. The case was transferred to the Qiaotou District Prosecutor’s Office for investigation on the charge of violating secrets.

The police received a report from the public that they had witnessed secret photography in a department store, and the police in the jurisdiction immediately rushed to the scene. When the police arrived at the scene, the witnesses identified the man in white who was taking photos of the skirt as suspect You (born in 1980). Suspect You refused to be questioned by the police and fled. After the two young men deliberately knocked the man in white down, the police used wrist force to restrain him on the spot in accordance with the police duties law. After taking him back to the police station for investigation, it was determined that there were secretly photographed contents in the camera. About 15 victims were photographed under their skirts. They will investigate whether they were all taken in the department store. They were arrested on the spot for three rights. When the suspect You was arrested and handcuffed by the police, he said “I’m sorry!”.

The police will review the surveillance footage to clarify the identity of the victim, and the suspect You has been transferred to the Qiaotou District Prosecutor’s Office for investigation on the charge of violating privacy.

The police urge that those who record others’ non-public activities, speeches, conversations or private parts of their bodies without reason by recording, photographing, videotaping or electromagnetic recording have violated Article 315-1 of the Criminal Code for violating privacy. Do not leave a criminal record for momentary selfish desires, so as to avoid regret.
