A man who attempted rape and killed his 19-year-old cousin during residential surveillance has been executed

On June 21, a reporter from Dahe Daily’s “See” learned from the victim’s family that the murderer Chen had been executed on the morning of June 20.
On August 16, 2024, the Yantai Intermediate People’s Court of Shandong Province made a first-instance judgment: the defendant Chen was convicted of intentional homicide and sentenced to death, depriving political rights for life; convicted of intentional destruction of corpses, sentenced to two years in prison; convicted of rape, sentenced to three years in prison; multiple crimes were punished together, and it was decided to execute the death penalty and deprive political rights for life. The defendant Chen compensated the plaintiff Jiang Moumou in the incidental civil lawsuit for economic losses totaling RMB 78,639.93 (limited to be paid within ten days after the judgment takes effect).
According to the victim’s family, Chen did not appeal after the first instance.
It was previously reported that on August 18, 2023, Chen Mou injured the female intermediary Jiang Moumou while viewing a house in the name of renting a house. Jiang Moumou resisted and attempted to commit a crime but failed to flee the scene, and was later arrested by the police. While Chen was under residential surveillance, on February 24, 2024, Chen killed his 19-year-old cousin Chen and was arrested by the police on the same day.
