Reuters reported that leaders of France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Britain, Finland, and the European Commission yesterday welcomed US President Donald Trump’s efforts to end the Russo-Ukrainian war, but stressed the need to keep pressure on Russia and provide security guarantees for Kyiv.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on the social media platform X: “The war must end justly. I am grateful to all those who stand with Ukraine and our people today and work for peace in Ukraine. Ukraine is defending the vital security interests of our European countries.”

Trump plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on the 15th of this month. Trump has touted the talks as a possible agreement to resolve the three-and-a-half-year conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Zelenskyy and his European allies have warned that any agreement requiring Ukraine to give up significant territorial gains would only embolden Russia’s aggressive behavior.
