
The Centre for Health Protection announced tonight (22nd) that 8 men and women had food poisoning symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting about 4 to 36 hours after dining at the “Extreme Emperor Seafood All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant” in Mega Center, Mong Kok. Two of them have sought medical treatment and none of them required hospitalization. Preliminary investigations showed that the affected persons had eaten sashimi and oysters at the restaurant.
The Centre for Health Protection said that 8 men and women had food poisoning symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting about 4 to 36 hours after dining at the “Extreme Emperor Seafood All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant” in Mega Center, Mong Kok, and suspected food poisoning.
The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health said that seven men and one woman aged between 23 and 25 had food at the “Extreme Emperor Seafood All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant” on the 9th floor of Mega Center, Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mong Kok on the 10th and 19th of this month, and had food poisoning symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting about 4 to 36 hours after dining at the “Extreme Emperor Seafood All-You-Can-Eat Restaurant” on the 9th floor of Mega Center, Sai Yeung Choi Street, Mong Kok. Two of the affected persons have sought medical treatment and none of them required hospitalization.
The CFS’s preliminary investigation showed that the affected persons had eaten common food, including sashimi and oysters, at the restaurant. After receiving the relevant report, the CFS, together with the Environmental Hygiene Department and the Centre for Health Protection, went to the restaurant to conduct an investigation on the same day (21st), inspected the food handling process and hygiene, and collected food and environmental samples for testing.
The CFS has immediately instructed the relevant premises to suspend the supply of the food in question and to clean and disinfect the premises, and provide food safety and environmental hygiene education to restaurant employees. The investigations of the Centre for Health Protection and the CFS are still ongoing.
