A 19-year-old man surnamed Zheng in New Taipei City was lured to a hotel on Zhengyi North Road on the morning of the 7th, and then taken to a betel nut stall in Wanhua District, Taipei City, where he was imprisoned and beaten to death. The police arrested eight people including the main suspect surnamed Li. After re-interrogation, the prosecutor requested that the couple and accomplices be detained and denied access to the suspects. The police then arrested two accomplices, including a man surnamed Jian (27 years old) and a woman surnamed Zeng (24 years old). The two admitted that they helped to take Zheng back to the base, but they did not beat anyone. After re-interrogation, the prosecutor requested that Jian be detained, and Zeng was granted bail of 50,000 yuan.
According to police investigation, in June this year, the Xizhi Branch of New Taipei City investigated a drug case and traced the source to seize an underage drug dealer. It was then learned that he bought drugs at a betel nut stall on Monga Avenue. The task force suspected that it was an etomidate packaging site. On the 9th of this month, they led a team to raid and close down the site. They first controlled a 16-year-old boy sleeping on the first floor. After the task force went upstairs, they found that a 19-year-old man named Zheng was lying on the ground and had been dead for a long time.
The boy originally refused to confess, but later said that he and his friends took Zheng back to the rental house, and they beat him with wooden sticks, aluminum bars, iron rulers and other weapons and left. Later, he went upstairs to check the situation. Zheng’s hands and feet were moving, so he went back to the first floor to sleep. He didn’t know when the other party died.
The police checked the surveillance camera footage and arrested 9 people including a man surnamed Li (26 years old) and his girlfriend surnamed Xu (18 years old). Li confessed that he and Zheng knew each other. Zheng had a good impression of his girlfriend surnamed Xu and had been pursuing her crazily, which caused Xu’s dissatisfaction and informed him of the matter.
On the morning of the 7th of this month, he instigated his girlfriend to call and invite Zheng to meet at a hotel on Zhengyi North Road. Zheng went to the appointment happily, but he didn’t expect that 8 evil men were waiting for him. Zheng was then abducted to a betel nut stall and was beaten and tortured to death by everyone. When Li was lynching, Xu was also watching coldly. After the police interrogation, Li and others were transferred to the court for murder, torture and death. After the re-interrogation, the prosecutor requested that Li, Xu and the male accomplice be detained and denied access.
Based on the confessions of Li and others, the prosecutors and police confirmed that there were two accomplices present that day. On the morning of the 21st, they arrested Jian and Zeng. After interrogation, the case was sent to the prosecutor’s office on suspicion of murder. Jian and Zeng stated that they both knew Li and accompanied him to the hotel entrance to block people that day. They also brought Zheng back to the base on Monga Avenue, but they did not beat anyone. The prosecutors and police will continue to clarify whether there are other people involved in the case.
