According to a report by China News Service in Hong Kong, the National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police Force announced on July 10 that four members of the so-called “Hong Kong Democratic Alliance for the Construction of a Nation” were arrested on the 9th of this month, aged between 15 and 47, for conspiracy to subvert the state power.
Li Guihua, Chief Superintendent of the National Security Department of the Hong Kong Police, announced the case at a press conference that day, pointing out that the organization was established through social platforms in November 2024 and recruited so-called “party members”. On February 15, 2025, the organization announced its action program at an online press conference, including the so-called “Liberate Hong Kong”, proposed the so-called “temporary national flag, national anthem”, etc., and claimed to seek international support and provide military training for Hong Kong members outside the country.
The organization held an event outside the country on July 1, and participants trampled on the national flag and the regional flag, and raised a series of symbols endangering national security and played songs endangering national security. According to Li Guihua, the organization is active in Taiwan and held an online press conference in Taipei.
The National Security Department made an arrest operation on July 9. After the search, the police found in the seized electronic devices the activities of the organization in Hong Kong, and found a proposal titled “Urging the United States to formulate a rescue plan for Hong Kong political prisoners”, as well as flags of splitting the country, such as Hong Kong independence, Tibetan independence, Xinjiang independence, and Guangdong independence.
Li Guihua emphasized that the crimes they committed were very serious and could be sentenced to life imprisonment at most. He also pointed out that this operation confirmed that there were overseas organizations that spread information endangering national security through social media, and even directed their followers in Hong Kong to carry out activities to subvert the national regime.
In this operation, the youngest person arrested was only 15 years old. Li Guihua said that parents also have a great responsibility and should pay attention to the people their children meet on the Internet.
