One person was gored and seven others were slightly injured during the Spanish bull-running festival

One man was gored and seven others were slightly injured as thousands of people ran with bulls in narrow medieval streets in the second day of the San Fermin festival in northern Spain yesterday.
Reuters reported that a spokesman for Pamplona’s emergency services did not reveal the identity of the man who was gored by the bull, only saying that he was over 25 years old and was injured below his right armpit.
“He is in a stable condition and is still under observation,” the spokesman said.
Seven others suffered bruises and contusions, some on the shoulder and head.
In the “encierros” event of the San Fermin festival, aggressive bulls are released into the streets and run all the way to the bullring. Hundreds of participants ran with the bulls, many of whom followed the tradition of wearing white T-shirts and red scarves.
During the event this morning, one of the bulls suddenly stopped running and rushed towards the runners, causing tension.
The week-long festival, held in early July each year, was made famous by American writer Ernest Hemingway’s 1926 novel “The Sun Also Rises.”
