Australian teenager dies after hitting head on ground after somersault celebration

An Australian teenager died after hitting the floor while celebrating his upcoming move into an apartment with his girlfriend in Sri Lanka, causing severe brain damage.
On July 4, the New York Post reported that 18-year-old Sonny Brundle and his girlfriend were about to move into an apartment in New South Wales, Australia, and start a new life. When celebrating the moment with friends, he failed to do a backflip and died.
The deceased’s sister said that he fell to the ground after a somersault and hit his head hard on the floor. He had a splitting headache and went to bed. However, he woke up and vomited violently and lost consciousness. His friends found him in the morning and took him to the hospital.
Within 24 hours of the incident, he suffered multiple strokes and bleeding in the brain, which required doctors to drain the blood before he could undergo surgery. He eventually died on June 30.
This is not the first time someone has died from a somersault. For example, in 2017, a South African bodybuilder failed in a backflip, and in 2014, an Indian football player died after failing a somersault.
