A woman in Phoenix, Arizona, died suddenly at home shortly after giving birth, leaving her baby alone in the house for several days. Fortunately, an alert neighbor called the police and saved the baby’s life.

CBS News reported that the Phoenix Police Department (PPD) confirmed that it received a report from the public at around 10:30 a.m. on the 14th of last month, claiming that the neighbor woman had just given birth and now there were piles of mail outside the door. She had not been seen for several days in a row. It was suspected that the situation was not good, so the police wanted to send personnel to conduct a security visit.

The police immediately sent personnel to an apartment at Central Avenue and Illini Street to check. The police’s body camera video showed that the police first saw a woman lying on the floor in the house through an unlocked window, so they rushed to the front door and broke in by force, and found that there was a “thin baby lying on the bed” wrapped in a blanket next to the deceased.

The police officer immediately reported: “Brothers, there is a baby here, and the baby is still alive.” Then “the police quickly rescued the baby and met with the Phoenix Fire Department personnel, who sent the baby to the hospital because the baby was in critical condition at the time.”

As for the body of the deceased mother, it was handed over to the Maricopa County Medical Examiner to clarify the cause of death, but the police have not yet released the name of the deceased.

After learning that the baby was fully rescued by the hospital and was confirmed to be fully healthy, PPD finally released the video of the secret recorder that found the baby on Facebook on the 27th of this month.

PPD spokesman Brian Bower praised the police for their quick action in a press release: “Thanks to the immediate and wise actions of all police officers, and the neighbors who discovered the abnormality and called the police for help.” He also emphasized: “It was not until some time after the incident that the hospital doctors and medical team confirmed that if the police had not immediately rescued and entered the apartment, the child might not have lived long.” He also revealed that the police had intervened in the investigation and the child welfare agency had also lent a hand to help place the baby.
