The Associated Press reported that the Ukrainian Air Force said on the 29th that Russia sent 477 drones and launched 60 missiles to attack various parts of Ukraine in the early morning of that day, which was the largest air strike since the war began. The Polish Air Force also said on the same day that Poland and its allies urgently ordered fighter jets to take off to ensure the safety of Polish airspace.

The Ukrainian Air Force said that 249 of the weapons launched by Russia were shot down and 266 disappeared from the radar, probably because of electronic interference.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuri Ihnat told the Associated Press that this all-night air strike was the “largest attack” against Ukraine, with Russia launching drones and a variety of missiles. The air strike targeted various parts of Ukraine, including western Ukraine, far from the front line.

The Polish Air Force said on the same day that Poland and its allies also dispatched fighter jets to ensure the safety of Polish airspace.

Oleksandr Prokudin, governor of the Khson region of Ukraine, said one person was killed in the drone attack. Ihor Taburets, governor of Cherkasy in central Ukraine, said six people were injured, including a child.

Lviv, in the far west of Ukraine, was also attacked. A large-scale fire broke out at an industrial facility in the local city of Drohobych after a drone attack, causing power outages in parts of the city.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on the 27th that Russia is ready for a new round of peace talks in Istanbul, Turkey. Russia and Ukraine have recently held two rounds of talks in Istanbul, but there has been no progress in reaching a settlement.
