The Ministry of Commerce spokesperson answered questions from reporters on the China-U.S. London Framework

A reporter asked: Recently, relevant US officials and media said that China and the United States have reached a supplementary understanding on the framework for implementing the Geneva consensus. China will accelerate the export of rare earths to the United States, and the United States will cancel relevant restrictive measures against China accordingly. What is the Ministry of Commerce’s comment on this?
A: Guided by the consensus of the leaders of China and the United States, the economic and trade teams of the two sides held economic and trade talks in London from June 9 to 10, and reached a consensus in principle on the framework for implementing the important consensus reached by the two heads of state on June 5 and consolidating the results of the Geneva economic and trade talks. After the London talks, the teams of China and the United States maintained close communication. Recently, with approval, the two sides further confirmed the details of the framework. China will approve the export applications of controlled items that meet the conditions in accordance with the law. The United States will cancel a series of restrictive measures taken against China accordingly. It is hoped that the United States and China will meet each other halfway, follow the important consensus and requirements of the call between the two heads of state on June 5, further play the role of the China-US economic and trade consultation mechanism, continuously enhance consensus, reduce misunderstandings, strengthen cooperation, and jointly promote the healthy, stable and sustainable development of China-US economic and trade relations.
