“The evil man with a cigarette in his mouth” was doused with gasoline and burned to death by his girlfriend with a master’s degree. His mother cried in court after hearing her son’s cries.

Last year, a 41-year-old “evil man” named Li in Taichung ran a red light and killed a Siliconware Precision Industries engineer. More than a month later, he was doused with gasoline and burned to death by his girlfriend, Xie, due to an emotional dispute. Xie was charged with murder. The National Court of the Taichung District Court began hearing the case today (25th), and Xie pleaded guilty in court. Li’s mother shed tears in the court, saying that she had been begging Xie to help put out the fire. The case will be sentenced next Monday.

At about 6 am on March 12 last year, Li drove through the intersection of Zhongming South Road and Wuquan 5th Street in the West District of Taichung City, ran a red light and hit Chen, a 27-year-old engineer from Siliconware Precision Industries, who was waiting for the red light on a motorcycle in front of him, causing Chen to suffer severe head injuries and die. After the accident, Li walked around the scene with a cigarette in his mouth. When he was questioned by the police, he was frivolous and completely disregarded the feelings of the victim’s family. He was called the “evil man with a cigarette in his mouth.”
Li’s girlfriend, surnamed Xie (34 years old), has a master’s degree and was originally engaged in medical beauty. At about 8 am on April 9 of the same year, Xie suspected that Li had a mistress and went to see him. Li asked Xie to buy gasoline for him because his motorcycle was out of oil. After buying the gasoline, Xie took her brother-in-law, surnamed Chen, to argue with Li. She angrily poured gasoline on Li and set it on fire, causing 68% burns to Li. After 5 days of rescue, he died of his injuries.
After committing the crime, Xie was allowed to be detained by the prosecutor, and the prosecutor prosecuted her for murder. The National Court of the Taichung District Court began an intensive trial today, and Xie pleaded guilty in court. The prosecutor played three surveillance video clips in court, showing that when Li returned home that morning, Xie quarreled with him at the alley and poured gasoline on Li with a barrel. After Li returned to the house, Xie rushed into the house with a lighter, and then Li’s wailing was heard, shouting “It hurts” and “Kill me”.
Li’s mother saw her son’s sharp wailing on the screen, and couldn’t help crying and said excitedly that he kept asking Xie to help put out the fire. Li’s mother’s lawyer emphasized that from the video, it can be seen that Xie had the opportunity to stop the behavior after Li entered the house, but she still entered the house to set the fire. It was not a momentary loss of control, and the intention of arson and murder was clear.
Xie’s lawyer said that Xie had multiple psychiatric consultation records. At that time, she was deceived by Li and stimulated by Li, so she committed the crime in anger. The case will continue to be tried and the verdict is scheduled to be announced next Monday (30th).
