On June 24, it was reported that Rongjiang, Guizhou was hit by a flood, and the largest shopping mall in the county was flooded. The video shows that half of the shops on the first floor were submerged, and the flood inside the mall was backflowing like a waterfall, quickly filling up an atrium.

At noon on the 24th, many merchants in the mall confirmed the incident to reporters. One of the merchants said: “The flood rose in just a few minutes. There was no time to move the goods, and the loss was huge.”

In the afternoon, staff from relevant departments of Qiandongnan Prefecture said that the largest shopping mall in Rongjiang County, Guizhou was indeed flooded. Rescue forces are handling it on the spot. No casualties have been reported yet, and the specific situation is still under further search and rescue verification.

According to the Guizhou Fire Department’s tweet, in the early morning of June 24, due to the combined effects of continuous heavy rainfall and upstream water, the water levels of many rivers in Rongjiang County, Qiandongnan Prefecture continued to rise rapidly, encountering a flood level once in 30 years, and many low-lying areas in the county were flooded. The Rongjiang County Fire Rescue Brigade responded to the flood and participated in the rescue work overnight. They actively transferred and evacuated people in distress on the main streets of the county town using boats, ropes and other equipment. At the same time, they continuously broadcast and shouted along the streets through handheld radios and car radios to remind people to evacuate. As of 11:27, the fire rescue personnel had received more than 200 requests for help from people in distress and transferred and rescued 84 people.
