Thai woman arrested for illegally crossing Cambodia border

Two Thai women were arrested by security forces in Sa Kaeo province as they attempted to enter Thailand illegally from Cambodia. They were caught crossing the border wire fence on June 21 because they had lost a large amount of money gambling and were without passports.
Today (June 22), officers from the Eastern Task Force in Thailand, in collaboration with the Aranyaprathet Task Force and the 12th Ranger Regiment, stepped up border patrols near the Ban Khlong Luek permanent border crossing in Pa Rai district, Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province.
During the operation late yesterday (June 21), police found two Thai women crossing the wire fence from the Cambodian side into Thailand and immediately detained them and launched a preliminary investigation.
The first woman, Juthawan (surname unknown), lives in Bangkok. In April this year, she legally traveled to a Cambodian casino through the Ban Khlong Luek border crossing.
However, after losing money gambling, she was forced to pawn her passport at Holiday Casino. The second woman, Panada, is from Khon Kaen province and entered Cambodia through a natural route last August.
Both women expressed their intention to return to Thailand, but due to the lack of necessary travel documents, they decided to cross the border through an unauthorized route and were caught by the police.
The two women have been detained and will face legal action, KhaoSod reported. Officials also reminded the public to avoid illegal border crossings to ensure their own safety and maintain order in the border area.
