
Two Chinese citizens recently disappeared from a hotel in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Their bodies were found in a river several days later, sparking widespread concern. On August 4th, a Nandu N Video reporter learned from a statement released by the General Department of Criminal Police of the Cambodian National Police that the two victims, a man and a woman, had been murdered. Police arrested seven suspects on July 31st and August 2nd, respectively. All seven suspects are reportedly Chinese men. With the exception of one whose age is unknown, the remaining six range in age from 32 to 48.
On August 4th, the General Department of Criminal Police of the Cambodian National Police issued a statement stating that on July 18th, the Chinese victims, Zhang Ruju (female, 43) and Dong Yunyuan (male, 39), had disappeared from a hotel in Sihanoukville, Sihanoukville. On July 23rd, police discovered the bodies of the two victims in the Basak River in a village in Koh Thong District, Kandal Province. They were confirmed to have been murdered and dumped in the river.
Following the incident, following instructions from the Director of the General Department of Criminal Police of the Cambodian National Police, a team led by the Deputy Director of the Department, in conjunction with the Sihanoukville and Kandal Provincial Police, conducted a professional investigation in accordance with the law and successfully identified the suspects’ identities and whereabouts.
Police stated that on July 31st, local time, police continued their joint operation, arresting three Chinese suspects at a highway exit in Sihanoukville, Sihanoukville: Ren Jiasheng (male, 36 years old), Jiang Bao (male, 48 years old), and Ye Yiyong (male, age unknown).
At 5:20 PM on August 2nd, local time, police continued their arrest operation in a residential area in Phnom Penh, arresting four more Chinese suspects: Huang Yong (male, 39 years old), Xiaong Qang Hai (male, 40 years old), Chan Xing (male, 32 years old), and Lai Guo Qiang (male, 48 years old).
At present, the General Department of Criminal Police has transferred the above seven suspects to the Sihanoukville Provincial Police Department for further processing in accordance with the law.
