A mother in Taichung City hired a 58-year-old man as a tutor for her underage daughter through a tutoring website. The man falsely claimed the girl was his “wife from a previous life,” a claim the mother took seriously. She pressured her daughter into a relationship with him and even helped her drug her while the man masturbated and ejaculated. The mother then smeared his semen around her daughter’s labia majora, hoping to impregnate her. The mother then took nude photos of her daughter while she slept and sent them to the man. The victim remained in the dark until she discovered sexual images of herself on her mother’s phone and reported them to her father, bringing the outrageous incident to light. The case is currently under trial.
The verdict stated that the victim’s mother saw an advertisement on a tutoring website in May 2023 and hired a 58-year-old man as a tutor for her 17-year-old daughter. The male tutor falsely claimed to the mother that the victim was his wife in a previous life and that she was also her mother in a previous life. He told her that he needed to drug her into a coma and then impregnate her before he could legally date her. Otherwise, the mother would face death.
The mother, knowing that the male tutor was 40 years older than her daughter and that her daughter had no interest in dating him, believed his baseless and outrageous claims. She and the tutor conspired to drug the girl twice, in April and May 2024, and then raped her, violating her right to freedom of movement.
In July 2024, the victim, who had turned 18, traveled to South Korea with her mother and a male tutor. The mother tricked her daughter into taking sleeping pills, promising her enzymes and health supplements before bed. Once she fell asleep, the mother removed her pants while the male tutor masturbated and ejaculated on her vulva. The mother then smeared the tutor’s semen on her pubic mound and around her labia majora, intending to impregnate her.
The victim was initially unaware of the incident, but her mother filmed the two of them in a Korean hotel with her cell phone. Shocked, the victim accidentally saw the footage on her mother’s phone and told her father, who then reported the case to the police. The mother and the male tutor were charged with aggravated forced molestation and intentional coercion of a juvenile by an adult.
The Taichung District Court issued its first-instance verdict in April of this year, but the verdict has not been made public. The mother and the tutor appealed the ruling. The Taichung High Court ruled that the tutor should serve eight months in prison, and the mother seven months in prison, both commutable to fines, for the coercion offense. The remaining appeals were dismissed. The case remains open to appeal to the Supreme Court.
