The Ministry of the Interior’s Immigration Agency held the 11th Dream Building Project Results Sharing Conference today (23rd). The event was held warmly at the “Fu’s Special Noodle House” in Toucheng, Yilan County. The winner of this Dream Building Project is Ms. Fu Nina from Hunan. She worked with new immigrant sisters and the Yilan County Service Station to share her entrepreneurial journey and invited guests to taste a variety of Hunan hometown cuisine to convey the power of dreams through food.
Ms. Fu Nina has been in Taiwan for more than 20 years. She is the eldest child in the family. She grew up in a poor family. At the age of 15, she went out to work to support her family. She has worked as a hairdresser and wholesaler. She has experienced the impact of the new crown epidemic and the failure of entrepreneurial partnerships during her entrepreneurial period.
Despite stumbling along the way, she never gave up, always held on to her beliefs, and thanked all sectors of society for their support and help. Today, she not only successfully runs the “Fu Family Specialty Noodle House”, but also serves as the executive director of the Yilan County New Immigrants Care Rights Association, actively helping new immigrant families integrate into local life, sharing entrepreneurial experiences, and encouraging more new immigrant sisters to bravely pursue their dreams.
In this achievement sharing session, Ms. Fu Nina shared many signature Hunan dishes, including pepper fried pork, vinegar potato shreds, sour beans and minced meat, spicy boiled fish, cumin pepper pork shreds and garlic shrimp, as well as Hunan’s traditional rice food-Changde rice noodles. Looking back on the hardships in the early days of entrepreneurship, Fu Nina admitted that she took many risks alone at the time, such as the second-hand noodle cooking table was prone to overheating, and her arms were often burned when operating, and she was also worried about customers accidentally getting burned; and the refrigerators that stored ingredients also had problems such as power consumption and power outages due to old age, which made people exhausted. Through the support of the Dream Building Project, the storage of ingredients and work safety are increased, creating in-store revenue and improving family finances, and realizing their own dreams.
In addition, Fu Nina also joined hands with local new immigrant groups and the Yilan Family Assistance Center to distribute meal coupons so that new immigrants and disadvantaged families can enjoy the delicious Hunan cuisine for free. The cuisine conveys warmth and care, and gives back to the society with actions, showing the positive cycle of the Dream Building Project.
Jian Yuping, director of the Yilan County Service Station of the Ministry of the Interior’s Immigration Agency, said that the Immigration Agency’s Dream Building Project encourages new immigrants and their children to bravely pursue their dreams and break through difficulties. Fu Nina’s story fully demonstrates the spirit of the Dream Building Project. Not only did she achieve her personal dream, but she also actively participated in community service. The Immigration Agency hopes to encourage new immigrants to use their expertise and bravely pursue their dreams through this plan. Through resource injection and on-site counseling, it will help implement the life blueprint, give full play to the beautiful power of multiculturalism, and create a wonderful life of their own.
