Many Chinese in Southern California are familiar with the Chinese man involved in this case, 65-year-old Guojun Xuan. Xuan is the president of the Xinjiang General Chamber of Commerce in the United States and is often active in various community activities. Friends say that he is generous and kind, but never mentions the private affairs of his wife and daughter at home.

Lu Qiang, a restaurant owner in Southern California, said that he has known Xuan Guojun for at least ten years. Xuan Guojun has a very good impression on people. After the nanny abuse case broke out, Xuan Guojun was investigated by the police. In May this year, he and his wife Silvia Zhang were detained by the Arcadia police. The two were suspected of “exposing children to danger/neglecting children”. Both have been released. In a previous interview, the Arcadia police detective said that the police found more evidence of nanny abuse in the follow-up surveillance investigation and would send the case to the local prosecutor’s office again.
