
Yesterday (13th), officers from the Narcotics Bureau of the Police conducted an anti-drug operation. With the assistance of Hong Kong Customs officers, they arrested a 43-year-old local woman who returned to Hong Kong from Bangkok, Thailand, at the Hong Kong International Airport on suspicion of “trafficking in dangerous drugs”. During the operation, about 33 kilograms of marijuana buds were seized, with a market value of about 6.7 million yuan.
The arrested person has been temporarily charged with one crime of “trafficking in dangerous drugs” and the case will be heard at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow morning (15th).

The police reiterated that trafficking in dangerous drugs is a serious crime. According to Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong, the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, once convicted, the maximum penalty is a fine of 5 million yuan and life imprisonment. Citizens should not test the law.
