
President Trump said on the 13th that he hoped a ceasefire agreement in Gaza could be reached within a week.
Trump told the media at the Andrews Joint Base in Maryland near Washington that day: “We are in negotiations and hope to sort this out within the next week.”
Trump has repeatedly made statements on the Gaza ceasefire agreement this month. He said on the 6th that it is “possible” to reach an agreement within this week, but “the situation changes every day.” When facing the media in Washington on the 7th with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Trump said that he “didn’t know” whether the “two-state solution” aimed at resolving the Palestinian-Israeli issue could still be implemented.
Hamas and Israel have held a new round of indirect negotiations in Doha, Qatar since the 6th, focusing on a 60-day ceasefire agreement, but have not made much progress.
