The information submitted to the National Assembly by the Defense Intelligence Headquarters of the South Korean Ministry of Defense on the same day speculated that North Korea has sent more than 28,000 artillery shell containers to Russia in recent years, and the estimated number of artillery shells is about 12 million.
The Defense Intelligence Headquarters stated that North Korea continues to provide weapons to Russia, and the military will continue to work closely with relevant agencies and friendly countries to pay attention to North Korea’s supply of Russian weapons.
Yonhap News Agency pointed out that after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, North Korea provided Russia with artillery shells, missiles, howitzers and other weapons, and even sent troops to help. The Ukrainian army once estimated that North Korea sent more than 14,000 officers and soldiers to assist Russia. North Korea also confirmed the dispatch of troops for the first time in April this year.
Kyrylo Budanov, director of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry’s Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), said in an interview with Bloomberg on the 11th that North Korea has a considerable stockpile of weapons and continues to produce them around the clock. Ukraine estimates that about 40% of the ammunition used by the Russian army on the battlefield is produced in North Korea.
